Quantifying the Impact of Passive Design on High-rise Buildings
Apr 06, 2015
This paper examined four different buildings’ footprint aspect ratios and two orientations in order to investigate the sensitivity of site layout planning characteristics on the energy consumption of high-rise office buildings in four different climate regions. The results suggest that design strategies to maximize passive thermal conditioning and daylighting do little to reduce the load profiles of high-rise office buildings built to current energy codes.
