Planning the 21st Century Palliative Hospital
Jul 01, 2000
The John D. Thompson Hospice Institute, a 52-bed facility located on the Connecticut shore, inaugurated its existing building in 1979. It is relocating to a larger facility. This current building project is an existing twenty-year old corporate office headquarters – a three-story building of 60,000 square feet. Translating ideas of hospice care into architecture, the design proceeded along these considerations: quality of life, privacy, and functionality.
