Quantifying Façade Performance: Advances in Simulation and Field Testing

Apr 13, 2015

This presentation highlights a number of ongoing and new building performance studies that explore the workings of windows in terms of factors that include solar gain, daylighting, and glare. including: GSA's Green Proving Ground; "Living Laboratory" floor in high-rise office buildings;FLEXLAB (Facility for Low Energy eXperiments in Buildings); and the Genetech/Webcore SF Office Building, which evaluates lighting and daylighting in FLEXLAB. It calls for designers to support design in the virtual world and to set expectations for--and deliver--performance. It argues that field test data is critical to building the case for high performance.
