New Techniques for Reflector Design and Photometry

Jul 01, 1977

Initiated by a project to develop floodlights for underwater applications, this paper explores the computer-aided creation of complex reflecting patterns by the individual design of perhaps hundreds of reflector sub-elements whose composite reflected light rays form the required distribution. The use of a continuous reflector profile was prohibited by the complexity of the required pattern, lamp type, and size constraints.
